How it works
This is the rotating-pool arrangement applied to datacenter inventory: one gateway, one credential, a different exit on every request. It exists because a great many targets do not weigh ASN reputation at all, and paying residential rates against them is money set on fire.
A shared pool of 240,000 datacenter addresses in 14 regions, rotating on every request, for targets that do not weigh ASN reputation. It is the cheapest way to move serious volume: $1.20 per GB at entry and $0.72 per GB past a terabyte. Sticky sessions pin an address for up to an hour when a job needs to finish where it started.
Your client talks to gate.fleetproxy.com and never sees the pool behind it. Adding or losing addresses upstream changes nothing in your configuration.
Each request is matched to an available address in the region you asked for. Per-IP rate limits at the target become largely irrelevant, because consecutive requests are rarely from the same address.
A session segment pins one address for up to 60 minutes — enough for a multi-step form, a paginated result set or a download that resumes.
Median response time is a fraction of residential because there is no consumer uplink in the path. For undefended targets this is both the fastest and the cheapest way to move volume.
The honest limitation: these addresses are shared and they are visibly datacenter. On a defended target the success rate collapses, and because bandwidth is metered, a 403 challenge page costs you exactly as much as the page you wanted. Measure success rate, not just price per gigabyte.

Choose rotating residential instead as soon as your success rate on this pool drops below about 90%. Metered billing makes low success rates deceptively expensive — a failed request costs the same bandwidth as a good one, so the cheaper pool stops being cheaper long before it stops working.

Up to 30 minutes of activity, released after about 10 minutes of silence. Add a session segment to the username — user-country-us-session-a91f2c4b — and the same string returns the same exit IP for the life of the lease. Residential peers can disconnect at any time, so treat the session as best-effort and check the x-fleet-exit-ip header if your flow cannot tolerate a change mid-journey.
Every byte crossing the gateway in both directions, including request and response headers, redirects, retries and failed requests. A 403 challenge page of 60 KB counts the same as a successful page of 60 KB, which is why low success rates get expensive quickly. The dashboard breaks usage down per hour and per country so a spike is traceable to a target.
Roughly 30 million residential addresses across 195 countries, plus dedicated static residential, mobile and datacenter inventory. Coverage is not uniform: the locations pages show live IP counts per country and city so you can check a specific market before ordering rather than after. Anything under 500 IPs in a pool is flagged, because a pool that small will repeat addresses inside a large crawl.
Targeting is encoded in the proxy username as segments: user-country-us, user-country-gb-city-manchester, or user-country-us-asn-7922. Country codes are lowercase ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 and city names are lowercase with hyphens. If a segment names a pool that does not exist the gateway returns 407 with an x-fleet-reason header rather than silently falling back to another location.
A 407 comes from our gateway, not the target, and the x-fleet-reason header on the response says which of the six causes it is: bad-credentials, no-matching-pool, ip-not-whitelisted, quota-exhausted, or plan-inactive. The most common causes are a client that drops credentials from the proxy URL and a password containing a character that needs percent-encoding. Reproduce with curl first; if curl works, the fault is client-side.
Residential IPs are addresses assigned by consumer ISPs to real subscriber connections, so targets see an ordinary visitor; they cost more and add 200–900ms of latency. Datacenter IPs come from hosting providers, are roughly twenty times cheaper per gigabyte and much faster, but are trivially identifiable and filtered by any site that cares. Mobile IPs are carrier-assigned 4G/5G addresses shared by thousands of subscribers, which makes them the hardest to block and the most expensive. Start with datacenter on undefended targets and residential everywhere else.
